Odd time for a railtour. The 15th Oct is a Wednesday. I can see a few sickies on that day Laughing

Hopefully everything will go smoothly this time.

Jason if you really want good weather maybe you should invest in one of these.

Ooh, now I wanted to do this tour last year when it was to run. I've not had an 87 for haulage since, umm...sometime in 2004 (!). I wonder if I'll be able to find a way of getting onto this, especially since I still need an 87 between Birmingham NS and Stafford, Hartford and Warrington BQ as well as Wigan NW and Glasgow.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to which 87s are useable for this run? I know not many are left now. The chances of me copping two 87s I need are high...

Me thinks I might have to forget about doing a railtour over required track and do a couple of overnight moves to do this one instead...

Quote from RTN member

'I believe Saturday was the plan but as the West Coast is always dug up I
presume a weekday was the only time to get to Euston if that's where it's
going along with Glasgow. Also heard an 86 may be on this charter as well as 87002...'

From another RTN member:-

Below is the link to Spitfire's site with actual details of the 87 tour
which is similar to the original one so should be touch wood a good day.

I only have times north of the border. Get it on the way up because it's going to be dark on the way south.

Tour ran to Glasgow today.

Rumours is that 87002 has suffered a fire at polmadie and that 57601 will haul the tour home.
return leg of tour to start Motherwell??
Chaos.

Certainly failed polmadie.
I'm told there was an announcement at GLC that the tour was to restart at Motherwell and pax advised to get local service. I can imagine the chaos when all the pax from a full railtour try to squeeze onto rush hour trains Rolling Eyes

Post on WNXX from ACLG bod states a battery charger failed, leading to batteries becoming overcharged, generating some smoke. Easily fixed, and shouldn't be any damage beyond the battery and charger.

57 bringing back the trainload of punters, including a certain Mr Mumrar who I hear is most dis-chuffed having negotiated a single fare from Glasgow-Brum for himself and his bike! Laughing
