Any ideas/suggestions, please, on the material to use on the front face of a control panel for a mimic style of panel. I am not keen to use tape and wonder about how to use polycarbonate, for example. Probe and stud point motor switching will be used together with LEDs to tell which route the point is set. So far, I have used Word to produce the mimic diagram.

In the past, my lad and me have produced control panels from ply with the printed (or drawn) track diagram covered with perspex sheet. You have to be careful drilling through the perspex, paper and plywood sandwich in order to not craze the perspex, so we put masking tape on the the point where we needed to drill holes. This helped to stop the drill bit from skittering across the shiny surface of the perspex which also meant that we didn't have to apply a lot of pressure to start the hole off.

Also take care when fitting switches to the panel, because over tightening will result in crazing the perspex.
