The entrance at the Irthlingborough end was filled in and landscaped over and now cannot be seen, so I'm not quite sure where that was.
At Finedon there is a disused "quarry" section which had a tunnel entrance to the mines. A railway line ran down to the main line and joined up somewhere between Harrowden Junction and the large sidings (known locally as Nielson's).
If you take the back road from Burton Latimer to Finedon you will cross an old bridge (looks like a small railway bridge) which is the disused line. The area is open to the public as a pocket park.
Assuming travelling towards Finedon then going right takes you towards the main line. You can walk along the old trackbed, many sleepers still in place. Left takes you to the old quarry and somewhere in there is the old tunnel which has been bricked up (well concrete anyway).
I didn't have a good look round when I went because I was on a bike and it started raining - it gets very muddy there.
A map of where I think the entrance is:

I did learn from someone who knew a bit more about these things, that the mine engines were electric versions of the more common Ruston & Hornsby shunters (narrow gauge) which ended up in a small scrap yard between Finedon and Wellingborough. One or two were known to be there in the mid 1990s. The place has since closed and I'm pretty sure I remember someone telling me that one was saved, though I don't know where it ended up.
