Excellent! That brought back some memories!!!!

I can remember seeing that 37 either just before, or just after filming.
It was at some bizarre stabling point in the middle of nowhere - but I can`t recall exactly where at the moment? Does anyone else have any ideas?

Ah, the good old days Exclamation Question

My favourite Inter-City ad was the "sentimental jouney" if anyone remembers it. Always made me want to rush out and jump on a train to somewhere.

If memory serves me right it was filmed between carlisle and newcastle but cant remember the exact location? and the paint scheme on the 37 was supposed to be able to wash off through a loco wash plant but it wasn't so thay had to do a complete repaint

I had heard that story myself. I also heard that the blue light made the loco out of gauge so they could only fit it at the last minute to do the filming. would have been nice to see it.

I was watching an old Minder i had recorded in 1991 i think and on that there is an Intercity advert saying they run more 110 mph trains than any other railway and ending with a lineup of an 87,90 and 91 (computer generated) anyone remember that one it had the trains rushing thru the countryside covered with a tarpaulin with the countries flags on top.

I remember it well. inevitably the media sneered and made less than fair comarisons with european railways, rather than running it as a good news story. Mad
