Very interesting. 147 and 144 plus matching coaches make a fine sight. Cool

I worry about the mentality of the birdwatcher. Rolling Eyes

Hi all,

My latest update today is the annual Wexford Opera Special, which ran this afternoon in a change from its annual October Slot.

The train ran as Special 15.25 Connolly - Wexford and 073 did the honours with 7 Mk3's. Pictures of it in Connolly before departure may be found at

The train is returning as 00.01 Wexford - Pearse Friday morning if anybody is insane enough to go out and see it!

The Wanderer.

Nice to see the Executive train still running. On a slightly side note, this train use to run from Dublin Pearse on the south side of the River Liffey, and was the only time of the year when Platform 3 was used in that station.

Platform 3 could not be used this year as it was signed out of use last week in prep for the Pearse Station redevelopment.

Pity there are no sleeping cars in Ireland as the wanderer could have done with one this morning!

The plan: Meet my travelling companion at 0755 at Heuston, 0810 Heuston - Tralee to Mallow for the 1100 Mallow - Cork.

The reality: Alarm goes off at 0645, press cancel instead of snooze, fall asleep and wake up again at 0825 to the thought of oh b*****s as the 0810 is speeding through the hatch . Revised plan: 1000 Heuston - Cork and take it from there.

Nice pictures. The people of Cobh were probably amazed by such luxury.

I was travelling home from work this evening and a chance encounter with 082 on Connolly Shed off an early Sligo Timber gave me a opportunity to photograph 082, 227 and 083 on the shed.

082 working the Sligo timber is the first outing on the Connolly side for the new livery.

Check out the pictures at

Not to be outdone by the antics of its sister, 081 decided it wanted
a trip to Sligo so on Friday it worked the 0625 Waterford - Sligo
empty timber as far as North Wall (as booked). It then went L.E. to
Connolly shed and was allocated for the 16.00 Connolly - Sligo F.O.
service. So 081 has the honour of working the first passenger
service in its new livery on the Connolly side.

Pictures of 081 awaiting departure from Connolly at:

shortly.
