I thought I was looking at a tombstone at first! So what the hell is it? Is D125 a reference to the locomotive that it came from? Confused

since there appears to be some sort of anti slip material on the surface then I would assume it is some sort of walkway or access cover set into a floor of something or even just some junk that some person has dumped at the side of the railway.

Without seeing the other side, no. However, the yellow suggests on-track plant, and the black grit suggests it is a panel where people stand, so my guess is that it is a hatch off some track machine

I was just wondering if there was a fleet list of track maintainence vehicles, to see if D125 was listed there.
