There are loads of 60's at Barnetby but they never seem to be thrashing the engine so it can be hard to hear over the noise of the wagons sometimes. The 66's make a distinctive ying-ying sound and the 56's used to sound like a freight version of an HST but I can't really place the sound of a 60.

A real class 60 start up (in the engine room).

A Howes chipped model.

To me they sound pretty similar, I think it may be the sound quality in the first video.

What do you lot think?

I tend to agree. I think it could be the quality of recorded sound myself. I think I will reserve judgement till I actually hear on of these chips in the flesh

Good grief, this is scary. I thought the sound chips played back recordings of actual locos, so surely, they should sound similar. Such stupendous technology, but I'm not sure that DCC is for me. I personally would prefer something that told me where the train is on the layout, which DCC cannot do.

Using feedback modules and a computer interface it can.
