Indeed. That was one of the things that surprised when I saw this operation taking place for the first time. They do not waste any time and only takes about ten minutes to complete. That time includes letting another train overtake it, so it's quite impressive.

Here is a video of Inchicore Works in Dublin from a passing train. At the front is the running shed where the locomotives go after being released from their train in Heuston. It's about a mile from Heuston. In the background are the workshops, etc.

^It is the heart of the Irish Rail network.
